PM is likely to open two new MMRDA road projects in Mumbai

During his visit to the city to officially open two brand-new Vande Bharat Express trains for Shirdi and Solapur, respectively, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to dedicate the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) Extension bridge as well as the Kurar underpass. The Mumbai Metropolitian Region Development Authority (MMRDA) managed both of the road projects.

MMRDA and the Railway Department met to discuss the specifics of these two projects. They have added that Modi is likely to launch the newly constructed projects via digital platform from platform number 18 of CSMT station if everything goes according to plan.

MMRDA states that only a portion of the 3.8-kilometer-long SCLR Extension bridge, which begins near Kapadia Junction and ends near Vakola Junction on the Western Express Highway (WEH), will be open to traffic. The total cost of the SCLR project is estimated to be around Rs 4150 million. Due to permission for land from the Ministry of Defense (MoD), the project was delayed. The project started in 2017, and MMRDA is set to partially open the bridge to traffic after nearly five years.

Kurar Village Pedestrians and Vehicular Subway, Dindoshi, Malad, on WEH, was recently constructed and widened by MMRDA. The new underpass, which cost about Rs 250 million to build, is expected to relieve commuters of traffic congestion once it opens to traffic. The PM had previously unveiled two MMRDA-constructed Metro Lines, 2A and 7, in January.

"Join industry leaders at RAHSTA Expo, India's premier platform for roads, highways and traffic infrastructure. Register now to explore innovations, network with experts and shape the future of mobility."

S&P Global Says Tariff And Investment Rules Needed In Power Market

Researchers at S&P Global Energy, the research arm of S&P Global, said that government regulation on tariff and investment should complement competition in power markets, since transmission and distribution remain natural monopolies requiring large capital investments. The firm argued that enabling competition among existing companies is more important than bringing in more entrants. It noted that the power sector is a heavy industry where scale delivers value, particularly in transmission and distribution. The researchers emphasised that regulation must address tariff setting and investment p..

Assam Expands Power Infrastructure To Meet Rising Demand

Assam is expanding its power infrastructure to meet rising demand and to become an energy-surplus state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The administration has accelerated investments and projects aimed at strengthening supply across the state. The expansion forms part of broader development planning that links energy availability to economic and social objectives. The state currently operates 82 substations and a grid with 10,000 megavolt-ampere (MVA) capacity supported by a 5,300 circuit-kilometre transmission network. Officials said these assets form the backbone of distribution an..
