Railway Ministry to redevelop Faridabad & Gorakhpur Railway Station

The Ministry of Railways has made preparations to undertake the redevelopment of Faridabad Railway Station in Haryana, with an estimated cost of Rs 2619.7 million. The Ministry of Railways announced that the design work for the North Foot over Bridge (FOB) and the construction of a multi-level car park is currently underway, while the dismantling of railway quarters has already been completed.

Located on the Agra-Delhi chord of the Indian Railways, Faridabad railway station serves the Faridabad district in the state of Haryana. The Agra-Delhi chord was initially opened in 1904 and underwent some realignment during the construction of New Delhi. The Faridabad-Mathura-Agra section was electrified between 1982 and 1985.

It is worth mentioning that Faridabad is a part of the Delhi Suburban Railway and is served by Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains. The station currently offers amenities such as a waiting room, telephone booth, computerised booking office, and a refreshment room.

In a related development, the Ministry recently announced the redevelopment of Gorakhpur Railway Station, which will cost approximately Rs 4.98 billion and will provide world-class passenger facilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project and also inaugurated two additional Vande Bharat Express trains from Gorakhpur, expanding the fleet to 25 trains.

"Our government is continuously committed to strengthening the railway infrastructure throughout the country... I will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Gorakhpur railway station," tweeted PM Modi before the foundation stone laying ceremony.
