PM Modi opens Vadodara route, cuts Delhi travel to 10 hours

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the Vadodara stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway open, marking a significant milestone in the project's progress and bringing the completion of the entire expressway one step closer. The travel time between Delhi and Vadodara has now been reduced to 10 hours.

The Vadodara stretch, although not the initial section accessible to the public, has joined the ranks of operational segments, including a 202 km portion between Sohna-Dausa and a 244 km stretch in Madhya Pradesh. The entire corridor, spanning 1,386 km, is anticipated to be finalised by 2024.

Upon its full functionality, the project is expected to cut the road travel duration from the national capital to India's financial hub by half, reducing it to approximately 12 hours. Currently, the cross-country journey takes up to 24 hours. The expressway traverses multiple states, including 79 km in Haryana, 373 km in Rajasthan, and 244 km in Madhya Pradesh, as reported by News18.

In January, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had also shared images of the Vadodara-Virar section on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter). He expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "The Vadodara-Virar Section of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway offers breathtaking views. Reducing distances for a prosperous India," emphasizing the positive impact the project will have on the country's connectivity and economy.
