PM to Inaugurate Four Modern Railway Stations in Punjab

Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM) will inaugurate four redeveloped railway stations in Punjab on July 17 under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Kewal Singh Dhillon said. Dhillon indicated that the PM will physically inaugurate the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station and will virtually dedicate to the nation the redeveloped S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Sri Muktsar Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib railway stations. The announcement was issued as a formal statement from the state party office.

The redevelopment work has converted the identified locations into modern passenger?friendly transport hubs equipped with world?class amenities while preserving local heritage and architectural identity, Dhillon stated. Upgrades reported include improved passenger facilities and better accessibility along with expanded and upgraded waiting areas and modern concourses. Platforms have been enhanced and commuter conveniences such as lifts and escalators have been installed to facilitate movement and reduce congestion.

Officials described the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme as a nationwide programme to transform railway stations into modern gateways that support connectivity, tourism, trade and economic growth. The Railway Ministry has prioritised passenger experience through comprehensive designs that integrate multimodal access, signage, public utilities and safety features. The interventions are presented as part of a broader modernisation drive by Indian Railways to raise operational standards and encourage greater use of rail transport.

Dhillon framed the inaugurations as evidence of the central government’s continued investment in Punjab’s infrastructure and said the BJP?led administration remains committed to holistic development through sustained capital allocation to rail, road and other critical projects. The planned openings on July 17 are intended to deliver improved public facilities to the people of the state and to signal ongoing focus on urban and regional connectivity. The account was provided in a statement circulated to the media.
