Pune municipal corp plans to build flyover on Pirangut Road

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is considering constructing a flyover or grade separator on a busy stretch of Pirangut Road near Bhugaon ahead of Chandni Chowk to ease vehicular traffic in the area, which has seen an influx of residential projects and commercial establishments such as restaurants and banquet halls in recent years.

Officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) said a consultant would be hired to conduct a feasibility study for a flyover or grade separator along the stretch. Local corporators, on the other hand, claim that the proposal was put forward in response to frequent traffic jams on the stretch.

A local corporator, Dilip Wede Patil, said the project would improve traffic flow on the congested stretch.

Patil told the media that on this stretch, preliminary inspections have been carried out to provide some facility, such as a flyover. Funds for the facility have been set aside in the municipal budget.

Harshad Rane said that as a regular commuter, there are two to three key locations that are prone to traffic jams. Vehicles take turns blocking traffic flow at these locations. Vehicles wishing to pass-through can use the flyover or grade separator to gain direct access.

Rane told the media that the road continues to Bhugaon-Mulshi and then on to Tamhini ghat.

Mangesh Thakar, a resident of Bhukum, said the stretch between Chandni Chowk and Pirangut needed to be widened.

PMC official told the media that steps have been taken to appoint a consultant to oversee the project's pre-and post-activity.

Cholamandalam To Raise Rs 10 Billion Via NCD Issue

Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company has invited bids to raise up to Rs 10 billion through secured non-convertible debentures (NCDs) maturing on 14 October 2030, offering a coupon rate of 7.58 per cent. The NCD issue, announced on Monday, comes at a time when corporate bond activity — which saw strong momentum in the first quarter of FY26 — has slowed during the second quarter owing to rising borrowing costs.
