Rs 900 Million Development Push For Roads Bridges Buildings In Shahpur

A high-level review meeting of development works being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the Shahpur Assembly constituency was held at the Shahpur Rest House, chaired by Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania. The meeting reviewed progress on projects and funding allocations amounting to Rs 900 million (mn) for construction and upgradation of roads, bridges and public buildings. The chair acknowledged the role of the state Chief Minister in securing the allocation for Shahpur's overall development.

The deputy chief whip instructed officials to prepare section-wise road data to enable effective and planned utilisation of resources and to assist prioritisation of works. He urged strict adherence to construction standards and quality control procedures so that long-term durability is assured. Emphasis was placed on incorporating adequate drainage to prevent monsoon-related damage and to secure continuous movement for residents and commercial traffic.

Officials were directed to document section conditions and timelines for repairs to allow transparent tracking and efficient deployment of funds. The review highlighted the need for systematic maintenance schedules that complement new construction so that the investments yield intended benefits. The chair also called for coordination with local bodies to ensure public buildings meet functional requirements for administrative and community use.

The consolidated programme is expected to improve mobility and service delivery across the constituency and to reduce long-term repair costs by addressing root causes such as inadequate drainage. Officials were asked to submit periodic progress reports to a designated monitoring team so that timely corrective measures can be taken. The meeting concluded with a directive that quality and public safety must guide implementation as projects proceed.
