Sub-engineers to oversee road repairs in all 227 wards

According to the BMC, it has assigned a sub-engineer to each of its 227 wards with the task of inspecting the roads daily and promptly filling any potholes they discover. The BMC stated that the municipal administration had undertaken pre-monsoon works and repaired the roads. However, if potholes are observed on the roads due to heavy rain, they are to be filled without delay. The engineers of the municipal corporation have been instructed to proactively inspect for potholes independently and ensure they are filled within 24 hours. Furthermore, BMC mentioned that permissions for road repair works are being granted in phases through the traffic police department, which limits the commencement of works. BMC officials noted the presence of numerous underground networks of utility services in Mumbai that require repairs or relocation. BMC has decided to trial geo-polymer technology for repairing potholes on cement concrete roads.
