West Bengal restores 3,611 km of roads at a cost of Rs 39.67 billion

Between April 2023 and June 2024, a total of 3,611 km of roads in West Bengal were fully repaired, widened, and reinforced at a cost of Rs 39.67 billion, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Pulak Roy informed the assembly on Wednesday. Responding to a member's question, he added that damaged sections of 7,765 km of roads were repaired at an expenditure of Rs 2.07 billion.  

The minister further stated that the West Bengal Highway Development Corporation is actively working on improving connectivity between cities and remote areas of the state.  

He mentioned that the four-laning of the Kalyani Expressway is nearing completion and is expected to be fully operational soon.
