Agra Metro Line 1 Sees Successful Trial Run

The Agra Metro project marked a key milestone as the Afcons–SAM India consortium conducted a successful trial run on Line 1, which spans 14.25 km from Sikandra to the Taj East Gate and includes 14 stations.

The consortium completed trial operations on a 6 km stretch of Line 1’s upline corridor between Mankameshwar Metro Station and ISBT. The trials were witnessed by senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, signalling steady progress on the corridor.

Phase 1 of the Agra Metro project covers a total length of 29.40 km and comprises two metro corridors. Of this, a 5.2 km priority corridor is already operational and was inaugurated in March 2024 by Narendra Modi.

Line 1 runs from Sikandra to Taj East Gate over 14.25 km with 14 stations, while Line 2 connects Agra Cantonment to Kalindi Vihar over 15.40 km with 15 stations. Together, the two corridors are designed to improve urban mobility and provide seamless connectivity across the city.

The entire Phase 1 of the Agra Metro project is expected to be completed by 2026, enhancing public transport infrastructure and easing traffic congestion in the historic city.
