bC India offers a platform for the CE industry to interact globally

How do events like bC India benefit the industry?
The current scenario of the Indian construction equipment industry looks promising especially with the Delhi Metro having completed its bidding for Phase-III, which envisages adding 140 km of the network; ongoing construction process at Bengaluru Phase-I, Chennai Phase-I, etc; planned metros like Bengaluru Phase-II, Chennai Phase-II, Lucknow, Jaipur - Phase II, Mumbai-line III, Ahmedabad, etc; further additions to metro cities like Pune, Vizag, Vijayawada, Tirupati along with the road tunnels, highways, hydroelectric power projects that are under way, all these will require a huge fleet of different types of equipment, which will certainly bring boom in the construction industry.

What are your expectations from bC India 2014?
bC India is well received at the international level in terms of construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles, etc. It is expected to attract more than 700 exhibitors with an expected visitors footfall û both national and international - of over 40,000. The event offers a platform for the entire construction equipment industry to interact globally. We are looking for broader visibility to reach our target audience along with an open platform where people can interact more efficiently. In bC India 2012 in Mumbai, we experienced a good footfall of our prospective clients. This helped us cater to their concerns, requirements, etc.

What are you are showcasing at the event?
The Robbins Company designs, develops, and manufactures underground excavation construction machinery for tunnel boring projects. It offers different types of TBM for different geologies like hard rock, open gripper, single shield, double shield and EPB for soft ground and slurry machines. Also, we manufacture small boring units and micro tunneling machines for utility tunnels. Custom conveyors and cutters are designed and manufactured for each project. We also have some senior officials coming from our headquarters in the US to be a part of this grand show and interact with the audience for their queries and seek future business development too.

What are the opportunities you foresee for your business?
Robbins India debuted in 2005 and has been growing since then. We are aiming high for next year with metro projects like Lucknow metro, Bengaluru Phase-II, Mumbai Metro Line III, Ahmedabad metro, the recently added Pune and Delhi Metro Phase-IV along with hydropower projects.
