CONCOR Commences DPD Rail Movement at JN Port

CONCOR (Container Corporation of India) has launched Direct Port Delivery (DPD) rail movement from Gateway Terminals India (GTI) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JN Port). This move signifies a significant step towards streamlining logistics operations and enhancing efficiency in cargo movement.

The commencement of DPD rail movement at JN Port is expected to expedite the clearance and transportation of cargo, reducing dwell time and transaction costs associated with traditional port operations. It aligns with the government's vision of promoting ease of doing business and enhancing trade facilitation.

Under the DPD system, containers are cleared directly from the port terminals and transported to the consignee's premises without intermediate handling at container freight stations (CFSs). This streamlined process minimises congestion at ports and improves supply chain efficiency for importers.

The introduction of DPD rail movement at JN Port underscores CONCOR's commitment to leveraging rail infrastructure for efficient cargo movement and reducing road congestion. It also reflects the port's efforts to adopt innovative solutions to enhance its competitiveness and attract more trade volumes.

The implementation of DPD rail movement is expected to benefit importers, exporters, and logistics service providers by reducing transit times and logistics costs. It will also contribute to the overall competitiveness of Indian ports and facilitate seamless trade flows.

As India continues to modernise its logistics infrastructure, initiatives like DPD rail movement at JN Port play a crucial role in enhancing the country's trade facilitation capabilities and promoting sustainable economic growth.
