MoS Defence flags-off driverless metro train at BEML

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth today announced the flagging off of a new driverless MRS-1 Metro trainset at BEML?s Bangalore plant, marking another milestone in the achievements of BEML?s Rail business division. He noted that this trainset is the 55th to be supplied to the Mumbai Metro Rail Metropolitan Authority for operation on Line 2 and Line 7. He mentioned that BEML had secured the order amidst stiff global competition for the design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning, and training of 96 trainsets (6-car trainsets) of standard gauge Metro cars. During the ceremony, Mr Sanjay Seth emphasized the significance of indigenously developed metro rail systems in enhancing urban mobility. He praised BEML?s contribution to the ?Make in India? initiative, highlighting that the driverless metro trainset symbolizes the nation?s growing capabilities in manufacturing advanced transportation solutions. Mr Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML, expressed his appreciation for the Ministry?s continued support and reiterated BEML?s commitment to delivering quality products. He conveyed that BEML's team is proud to contribute to the nation?s infrastructure development and is dedicated to excellence and innovation in all their endeavors. BEML proudly announced that it is the first Indian rolling stock manufacturer to design, develop, manufacture, and supply driverless trains. The company takes immense pride in supplying these state-of-the-art driverless trains to the prestigious Mumbai Metro Line 2 and Line 7.
