Two Consortiums Bid for Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 Consultancy

Two consortiums have submitted bids for the General Consultant contract for Hyderabad Metro Phase 2, Package 1, which covers 63 km across four corridors. The state government is likely to finalise the selection in the first week of November.

Hyderabad Airport Metro (HAML), which invited bids for supervising the project over four years, received proposals from a consortium comprising Hill International, Nippon Koei and TYPSA, and another formed by Ayesa and Aarvee Associates. The selected consultant will support the project from the tendering stage through construction and commissioning.

The bid submission deadline ended on Thursday. Officials will now assess the technical proposals, including presentations on the bidders’ proposed methodology and work plans, before shortlisting eligible participants and opening their financial bids.

Package 1 consists of four corridors. The Nagole-Rajiv Gandhi International Airport corridor will extend 36.8 km and include 24 stations, while the Raidurg-Kokapet Neopolis route will cover 11.6 km with eight stations. The MGBS-Chandrayangutta corridor will span 7.5 km and have six stations, and the LB Nagar-Hayathnagar route will cover 7.1 km with six stations.

The General Consultant’s responsibilities will include preparing tender designs and documents, evaluating bids, reviewing engineering designs and supervising civil works. The agency will also oversee systems installation, rolling stock integration, testing and commissioning, while monitoring construction progress, quality, costs and safety standards. Its technical and project management support is intended to coordinate the various stages of the major urban transport project.
