UKMRC's speeds up Rs 401.50-bn Neo Metro project

The work on the Dehradun-Haridwar-Rishikesh Metro Corridor, which is being constructed with an approximate investment of Rs 401.50 billion, has been accelerated by the Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation (UKMRC).

It was mentioned by the UKMRC that the forthcoming metro corridor was going to establish connectivity between the three cities. Specifically, the Metro line connecting Haridwar and Rishikesh would run parallel to the National Highway linking these two urban centres. The intention behind this initiative was to enhance connectivity, as well as improve pedestrian movement and the number of people traveling between Rishikesh and Haridwar.

The corporation unveiled its intentions to develop advanced rapid transit systems in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion within the state. They revealed that the first Neo Metro of the country would be implemented on two routes in Dehradun, and additionally, the initial Pod cab in India would be launched in Haridwar. This project has the objective of significantly augmenting the state's environmentally friendly, effective, and economical transportation network.
