Memoir of Maritime Legend Vaishnav Puri Launched

A memoir celebrating the life and legacy of maritime stalwart Vaishnav Puri has been launched recently, chronicling the personal and professional journey of a visionary who transformed India’s shipping industry and strengthened international trade relations.
Widely respected for his leadership, Puri played a defining role in reviving the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in 1991, when it was dismissed by traders due to lack of acceptance. He also pioneered the launch of India’s first direct and fastest liner service to the United States. By the early 2000s, he was overseeing the handling of more than 20% of the country’s containerised cargo volumes for leading global liner principals.
In addition, Puri represented Singapore’s government in Mumbai as honorary trade representative for nearly two decades, promoting bilateral trade between India and Singapore.
The biography is not just a record of his achievements but also a testament to his values of integrity, determination, and vision. His story mirrors the rise of India’s maritime industry and the building of a sustained legacy for future generations.
