Lucknow Approves ?60 Million for Imambara Restoration

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has approved ?60 million for restoring three gates of the historic Chhota Imambara under the Smart City Project. This decision comes after the Allahabad High Court's intervention in a writ petition filed by Syed Mohammad Haider Rizvi.

The High Court directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to submit a detailed repair plan within two weeks and instructed the district administration to remove encroachments around the gates. ASI, in its affidavit, estimated the restoration cost at Rs 61.7 million and confirmed that the work would be carried out by the INTACH Conservation Institute as part of the Smart City initiative.

This project is vital for preserving Lucknow's cultural heritage and ensuring the iconic Chhota Imambara remains an essential part of the city's heritage and tourism.
