Pipavav Port, NYK Ink MoU To Boost RoRo Capacity

Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with NYK India Pvt Ltd to develop enhanced RoRo infrastructure at Pipavav Port, enabling the port to handle up to 500,000 cars annually.

The partnership aims to create specialised RoRo facilities that reduce dwell time and improve vessel–rail synchronisation to accommodate rising rail volumes. The companies said the initiative will support more efficient and sustainable logistics at the port.

With Maruti Suzuki and Honda Motors as key customers, Pipavav Port expects RoRo volumes to grow by 20–25 per cent this fiscal year. In the first half of FY26, the port handled 99,000 RoRo units — a 39 per cent increase over the 71,000 units processed in April–September FY25.
