Dalmia Bharat targets 110-130 mtpa production capacity by 2031

Cement producer Dalmia Bharat plans to have a production capacity of 110-130 million tonne per annum (mtpa) by 2031.

Currently, Dalmia Bharat has an established capacity of 30.8 mtpa. Dalmia Bharat, in its capital allocation and capex plan, said that it aims to grow at a CAGR of 14-15% above the next ten years to attain the target capacity of 110-130 mtpa by 2031.

Dalmia Bharat Group, in an investor presentation, said that the company would continue on having a double-digit compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to attain the aim.

With continuing projects, which covers greenfield and brownfield development and up-gradation of existing units, its total established capacity would be 48.5 mtpa.

It is investing about Rs 2,000 crore on the ongoing expansion projects, between Rs 4,700 crore to Rs 5,000 crore on a new capacity of 10 mn t, the presentation said.

Additionally, Dalmia Bharat informed the media that up to 10% of operating cash flow to move into innovation and green energy fund, development of newer low carbon cement and installing pilots for disruptive low carbon technologies.

The Tamil Nadu-based firm has a strategic imperative to be a pan India Pure Play cement firm, it added.

Dalmia Bharat's consolidated revenue from operations for the financial year ended on 30 March 2021, reached Rs 10,907 crore.

As per the Cement Manufacturing Association, the total established capacity in the Indian cement sector is about 545 mtpa.

It estimates for approximately 7% of the global established capacity, the Indian cement sector is the second-largest cement industry worldwide, as per the CMA.

The sector is currently run by the Aditya Birla group company UltraTech Cement, which currently has a consolidated capacity of 116.8 mtpa.
