Nuvoco Launches Concreto Tri Shield for Enhanced Durability

Nuvoco Vistas Corp has launched Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield, a high-performance ready-mix concrete designed to improve structural durability and extend service life under harsh environmental conditions. The product is part of the company’s Nuvoco Concreto portfolio and has been engineered as a three-in-one durability solution for diverse Indian conditions.

Concreto Tri Shield has been developed to address key durability challenges, including high chloride exposure from borewell water and coastal environments, accelerated carbonation caused by urban pollution, and sulphate-rich soil and groundwater conditions. These factors are known to accelerate deterioration and compromise long-term structural performance.

The product integrates three protective mechanisms. The Chloride Shield reduces chloride penetration by 50 per cent compared to standard concrete, helping protect reinforcement steel from corrosion. The Carbonation Shield slows carbonation rates, delivering 50 per cent lower carbonation depth, while the Sulphate Shield limits sulphate-induced expansion and cracking, achieving a 50 per cent reduction in sulphate expansion versus conventional concrete.

Together, the three mechanisms are designed to extend the service life of structures by up to 50 per cent compared to standard concrete. The performance has been validated through testing at Nuvoco’s Construction Development and Innovation Centre, accredited by NABL, and aligned with IS and ASTM durability standards, supported by advanced modelling simulations.

Commenting on the launch, Chirag Shah, Head of Marketing, Innovation and Sales Excellence, Nuvoco, said the product addresses on-ground construction challenges linked to premature deterioration and is suited for long-term assets such as commercial buildings, hotels, hospitals and educational institutions, reinforcing the company’s focus on durability-led, customer-centric solutions.
