OMCs Urge Households To Avoid Panic LPG Bookings

Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum issued a joint advisory urging households to avoid panic bookings of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders and saying domestic cooking gas supply remains secure. The oil marketing companies emphasised that unnecessary or unusually early bookings could disrupt the distribution cycle and delay deliveries for consumers who genuinely require cylinders. They said distributors, delivery staff and digital booking systems are designed to ensure a steady flow of cylinders to households without customers visiting distributor offices.

Officials explained that panic or unusually early bookings can disturb the delivery schedule and cause delays for others who urgently need cylinders. The companies said supply chain stocks and logistics support are adequate to ensure timely delivery and that production, transportation and delivery systems are functioning normally. They added that teams are working continuously to maintain smooth supply and urged citizens to rely on the regular booking system and not on rumours.

The advisory outlined multiple digital and automated platforms for refill booking, including interactive voice response services, SMS booking, official mobile applications, missed-call services and authorised websites, and said these minimise physical visits to distributors. Officials said the digital ecosystem speeds up the refill process and improves transparency while allowing distributors to plan deliveries in an orderly manner. They recalled that during the COVID period deliveries continued across urban and rural areas despite mobility restrictions, demonstrating the resilience of the distribution framework.

The government and the oil marketing companies reiterated that the LPG delivery infrastructure is built to handle fluctuations in demand and that consumers need not rush to book refills earlier than required. They urged households to remain calm and depend on the delivery network, saying there is no shortage of cooking gas and supplies remain secure nationwide. Officials added that delivery teams and distribution networks are working round the clock to ensure every household receives its cylinder on time.
