GEAPP Unlocks $1 Bn for India’s Clean Energy Drive

The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) has unlocked USD 1 billion in financing for India’s clean energy transition. The funds will improve access for 49 million people, create 2.2 million jobs, and cut 166 million tonnes of CO2.

GEAPP has supported 26 projects in India, including South Asia’s first utility-scale BESS in New Delhi and PM-KUSUM solarisation in Rajasthan. Partnerships with NITI Aayog and states have enabled tendering of 16 GW renewable capacity in Maharashtra.

CEO Woochong Um said the findings highlight how public-private-philanthropy collaborations can drive systemic change.
