Envision, Juniper commission India’s largest wind turbine

Envision Energy India, in collaboration with Juniper Green Energy, has commissioned India’s largest wind turbine, marking a key milestone in the country’s renewable energy sector. The EN182|5MW turbine has a 5 MW capacity, 182-metre rotor diameter and 105.56-metre hub height with a tubular steel tower.

The turbine is the largest installed in India by rotor diameter and offers more than 40 per cent higher annual energy output compared with Envision’s EN156|3.3MW platform. It is designed for enhanced performance in high-temperature conditions of up to 50 degrees Celsius and delivers 98 per cent machine uptime in high wind speeds.

Juniper Green Energy commissioned 20 MW of wind capacity in Surendranagar and Rajkot districts in Gujarat and 75.6 MW in Barmer, Rajasthan, as of June 2026. The company is also preparing to commission an additional 246.4 MW of wind capacity across these sites in the coming months.

The latest commissioning follows Juniper Green Energy’s recent addition of 305 MW of renewable capacity in Gujarat and the launch of India’s first Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy project in Rajasthan. Envision Energy India, which completes 10 years of operations in July 2026, is expanding its manufacturing footprint with plans for 5 GW annual capacity and aims to increase localisation content from 60 per cent to 80 per cent.
