Green Power Surge: India Set To Add 50 GW Capacity In FY26

The government has set in motion plans for the addition of 50 gigawatt (GW) of renewable power capacity in the financial year 2025–26, signalling an acceleration of clean energy deployment across urban and rural regions. Industry sources said the programme will encompass utility scale solar and wind projects alongside smaller distributed generation initiatives. Developers are expected to leverage falling equipment costs and rising investor interest to accelerate project pipelines. The scale of planned additions reflects sustained policy focus on decarbonisation.
