JUWI Tops One GW Under Construction As Solar Portfolio Exceeds 900 MW

Renewable energy developer JUWI has reached a milestone of one gigawatt (GW) of renewable capacity under simultaneous construction across its global portfolio, reflecting expansion in solar and wind sectors. The firm said it is installing around 1.3 million (mn) solar modules across 12 photovoltaic (PV) projects and is constructing 46 wind turbines with a combined capacity of about 270 megawatt (MW). Overall, nearly one GW of additional capacity is expected to be commissioned in the coming months.

Module installation has begun at the Trifylli solar park in northern Greece, part of the 156 MW Clover photovoltaic portfolio being developed for investor Mirova. The portfolio comprises four solar projects scheduled for commissioning next year and JUWI is building seven PV projects in Greece with a combined capacity exceeding 400 MW. Work in Greece required design adjustments after archaeological discoveries and teams sought to minimise delays while complying with heritage preservation rules.

In Africa, JUWI is nearing completion of the Grande Côte Operation PV hybrid project in Senegal for miner Eramet, which includes a 20.3 MW solar PV plant integrated with an 11.12 MW battery energy storage system (BESS). Construction continues on three large-scale solar projects in South Africa with a combined capacity of about 350 MW. The company said these projects demonstrate adaptability to local conditions.

In Germany JUWI is building 46 turbines across 11 sites, adding around 270 MW of wind capacity. The developer has also commissioned significant solar projects in the United States while in Italy it brought a 41.7 MW park in Sardinia and another project in Loreo online, addressing archaeological finds and soft-soil conditions during development. These activities form part of a broader international construction pipeline.

JUWI said the current construction portfolio builds on more than 30 years of experience, during which it has planned and constructed over 3.5 GW of wind power and more than 4 GW of solar PV worldwide. The company is preparing additional renewable projects in the United States and Italy as it advances work across its global pipeline.
