Lal reviews renewable energy at NHPC's Nimoo Bazgo Power Station

Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, visited NHPC’s 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo Power Station in Leh, Ladakh, to review its operations and assess renewable energy initiatives in the region.

Accompanied by NHPC CMD R.K. Chaudhary, the minister inspected the facility, which harnesses the Indus River to generate clean energy for Ladakh. Officials briefed him on the plant’s role in bolstering the region’s energy infrastructure and highlighted corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives benefiting local communities.

Commending the NHPC team for operating the station in Ladakh’s challenging conditions, the minister emphasised the government’s commitment to renewable energy and environmental sustainability. He encouraged continued efforts to ensure a stable power supply and explore additional green energy opportunities.

The Nimoo Bazgo Power Station is a vital component of Ladakh’s renewable energy strategy, providing reliable power in a region with demanding geographical conditions. Senior NHPC officials, including Executive Directors Ram Swaroop and Suprakash Adhikari, along with Jitendra Kumar, Head of Power Station for Nimoo Bazgo and Chutak, were present during the visit.
