MPPMCL Invites Bids For 625 MW 1,250 MWh BESS Projects

The Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) has invited bids for battery energy storage system (BESS) projects totalling 625 megawatt (MW) and 1,250 megawatt hour (MWh) of energy capacity across the state. The tender notice outlines the aggregate power and energy capacity and signals a procurement push to bolster grid flexibility and renewable integration. The company has positioned the initiative as part of broader efforts to modernise state electricity infrastructure and improve reliability.

The combined specification implies an energy duration of two hours when discharged at aggregate rated power, a configuration suited to diurnal balancing and peak load management. BESS installations of this scale are intended to provide ancillary services including frequency regulation and ramp management while enabling more predictable integration of variable renewable generation. Technical parameters and performance metrics have been set out in the bidding documents to ensure operational compatibility with existing transmission and distribution assets.
