NTPC floats enlistment tender for balance of system package for solar projects

Public sector giant NTPC Limited has issued an enlistment tender for the supply for balance of system (BOS) package for solar projects. The deadline for submission of bids is November 19. The enlistment will be valid for two years.

A balance of system includes all the components of a photovoltaic (PV) system with the exception of PV panels. The winning contractor will undertake design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the projects, excluding the supply of solar modules. Selected bidders will design and construct the foundation, erect module mounting structures, and mount the solar panels. They must also provide operation and maintenance services of the solar project, electrical equipment, consumables, and spare parts for three years from the date the trial run is completed.

Eligible applicants must have had an average annual turnover of at least Rs 67 crore in the last three financial years. The net worth is expected to be greater than 100% of their paid-up share capital as of the previous financial years’ last date. Applicants who have executed industrial projects as a developer or engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) projects worth Rs 67 crore in the last 10 years are also eligible to apply for enlistment.

Prospective bidders must also have experience undertaking at least 40 MW of similar balance of system solar projects previously. Of these projects, at least one must have been 10 MW or above in size and must have been operating successfully for at least the last six months. Alternatively, they must have experience developing solar projects of the same specifications.

NTPC has 875 MW of projects commissioned and about 2.3 GW under development pipeline, as of June 2020. It has also issued tenders for 14.6 GW of large-scale power projects. Interested vendors can learn more about NTPC’s vendor enlistment processes here.
