NTPC launches India's first hydrogen blending process in PNG network

The piped natural gas (PNG) network of the township in Kawas, Surat, is now home to India's first green hydrogen mixing facility.

The project is a collaboration between Gujarat Gas (GGL) and NTPC. In the presence of several top executives from NTPC Kawas and GGL, P Ram Prasad, the project's head of project, started the first molecule of green hydrogen.

The NTPC Kawas township on Surat's PNG network has begun blending green hydrogen.

With the assistance of GGL representatives, NTPC Kawas conducted awareness sessions for township residents following the start of the blending process.

After the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone on July 30, 2022, NTPC and GGL worked tirelessly to reach this milestone in record time.

This system is ready to provide residents in the Kawas township in Adityanagar, Surat, with H2-NG (natural gas). In Kawas, water is electrolysed to create green hydrogen using energy from an existing 1 MW floating solar project.
