PSPCL Upgrades Infrastructure to Prevent Summer Power Cuts

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has announced a Rs 2.65 billion infrastructure upgrade in Ludhiana to address power disruptions ahead of the summer season. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora confirmed that the upgrades, expected to be completed within 90 days, include installing 234 new distribution transformers, 37 new feeders, and commissioning a Rs 650 million 220 KV GIS-based grid in Sherpur.

PSPCL plans to install two to three power transformers daily across the city and replace faulty transformers that have caused repeated outages over the past two years. The new Sherpur grid will enhance distribution capacity and voltage stability, while the new feeders, each spanning 2 to 2.5 km, will ease the load on existing infrastructure and reduce breakdowns.

To address technical issues like loose wires and faulty jumpers, PSPCL has launched a toll-free helpline (1912) and a mobile app for reporting power-related problems. Officials have also warned of strict action against negligence and plan to address staffing shortages to ensure smooth operations.
