Resonia Wins Ananthapur-II Transmission Project for Green Energy

Resonia, previously known as Sterlite Grid 32, has secured the Ananthapur-II Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-I transmission project in Andhra Pradesh. Awarded through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, the project will be implemented under a special purpose vehicle on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 35 years.

This marks the eleventh transmission project undertaken by Resonia under the TBCB model, increasing the company’s total project portfolio to approximately Rs 325.27 billion. The primary objective of the Ananthapur-II REZ Phase-I project is to support the evacuation of 4.5 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapur region, thereby contributing significantly to India’s clean energy goals.

The project involves the development of a Greenfield pooling station at Ananthapuram-II with 765/400 kV and 400/220 kV transformation capacity. It also includes the establishment of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines spanning 150 km to Davangere and 200 km to Cuddapah. These lines are designed to ensure efficient transmission of renewable power across the grid.

An important feature of the project is the integration of a ±300 MVAR Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) at the Ananthapuram-II pooling station. This advanced system is aimed at enhancing grid stability, improving voltage control, and increasing the overall reliability of power supply in the region.

The project is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s power transmission network and facilitating the seamless integration of renewable energy into the national grid, aligning with India’s broader energy transition and decarbonization efforts.
