Vikran Commissions Second Five MW Solar Plant Under PM KUSUM

Vikran Engineering Limited has commissioned its second five megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Ambijalgaon in Ahilyanagar district, Maharashtra, under the PM KUSUM scheme. The plant is part of a 600 MW solar contract secured in December 2025 and marks progress in the company's renewable energy pipeline. The development forms part of Vikran's strategic expansion from transmission and distribution into renewable infrastructure.

The Ambijalgaon facility has been developed to supply reliable daytime electricity for agricultural irrigation, addressing unstable grid supply and dependence on diesel-powered pumps. It is expected to generate 10,000 MWh of clean energy annually and avoid 8,200 tonne (t) of CO2 each year, while enabling productive utilisation of underutilised land and creating longer-term revenue opportunities for local landowners. The project therefore targets energy security and rural economic resilience during dry seasons.

Company leadership noted the commissioning as an important milestone in the renewable energy journey and reiterated commitment to delivering measurable impact on farmer livelihoods and rural energy reliability. With this commissioning Vikran has now operationalised two solar power plants under its development pipeline, with an additional 145 MW under active construction and the overall execution pipeline progressing as scheduled. The company highlighted its ability to maintain momentum despite monsoon-prone geographies through coordination with government agencies, land partners, contractors and supply chains.

Vikran Engineering is a diversified engineering, procurement and construction player with capabilities across power transmission and distribution, water infrastructure and railway electrification, supported by emerging solar EPC and smart metering services. The firm provides end-to-end turnkey solutions spanning conceptualisation, design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning, and has completed 45 projects across 14 states for clients including NTPC and Power Grid Corporation of India as well as state utilities and public health departments. An asset-light model, in-house design and engineering expertise and a supply chain of 3,500 vendors are cited as enablers of efficient mobilisation and timely delivery as the company scales its renewable footprint.
