Waaree Group Secures 10 MWh Battery Storage Project in Tamil Nadu

Waaree Group has won a new battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Tamil Nadu, strengthening its presence in the fast-growing energy storage segment. The company said the order has been placed by a leading infrastructure development firm and involves supplying and deploying a 10 MWh BESS solution in the state.

The project marks an important step in meeting the rising demand for flexible and dispatchable power as renewable energy capacity expands across India. Battery storage systems are increasingly being integrated into solar and wind projects to stabilise supply, smoothen intermittency and enhance overall grid reliability.

Commenting on the development, Ankit Doshi, President–Strategy, said the company is intensifying its focus on storage technology to support the country’s clean energy trajectory. “Storage is the next frontier for renewable power, and we are investing deeply in technology, design, and manufacturing to meet the nation’s growing demand for flexible, dispatchable energy,” he said.

The company noted that the new order reinforces its commitment to developing advanced storage solutions tailored to India’s grid conditions and energy requirements. As states like Tamil Nadu continue to expand their renewable portfolios, battery storage is emerging as a critical component in ensuring stable power supply, especially as the share of variable renewable energy increases.

Waaree Group’s entry into utility-scale energy storage projects also reflects a broader shift in the industry, with developers and infrastructure companies adopting integrated clean energy and storage systems to improve project viability and long-term performance. The company added that it will continue to invest in storage technologies to support India’s transition toward a low-carbon, high-renewable grid.
