Waaree US Arm Wins 236 MW Solar Module Order in Kentucky

Waaree Energies' United States arm, Waaree Energies USA, has secured a 236 megawatt (MW) solar module order for a utility scale project in Kentucky. The order underlines the company's push into the North American market and will be assembled at its local manufacturing facilities. The firm said the contract covers supply of high efficiency modules to be delivered over the coming months. The order complements earlier contracts secured in overseas markets.

The supply of 236 MW of modules is significant for a single state level project and will support solar capacity addition aimed at decarbonisation and grid diversification in the region. Waaree USA will coordinate logistics and quality assurance from its US operations while leveraging components and technology developed by the parent company. The supply chain will involve regional vendors and logistics firms. The project will create local jobs during installation and supply chain operations.

Waaree Energies, an Indian integrated solar energy company, has expanded its footprint internationally by bidding for and winning large commercial contracts in recent years. The company operates manufacturing units for solar modules and provides end to end solutions, including engineering procurement and construction services for utility scale solar projects. The company's research and development focus supports module efficiency gains. The Kentucky contract is consistent with the company strategy to increase overseas revenues and diversify client base.

Analysts note that rising corporate and state targets for renewable energy are driving demand for solar modules across the United States and that manufacturers with local production capability are gaining preference. Waaree USA will now focus on meeting the delivery schedule and scaling up aftersales support for the project. Market participants view the contract as reinforcement of the sector's growth trajectory. The firm reaffirmed its commitment to supporting renewable deployment and to strengthening local partnerships.
