Rs.3,000 crore sanctioned for Tamil Nadu highways

The Tamil Nadu Government has sanctioned Rs 3,000 crore for widening and improving state highways, major district roads, bridges and culverts in 2,139 projects under the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme (CRIDP). The delay, caused by the bureaucratic procedure, contractors´ lethargy and monsoon, has pushed up the project´s estimated costs. Revised estimation is done with added input costs, affecting the pace of road widening.
