CIDCO calls PMC to take over physical infra services

CIDCO has written to the Panvel Municipal Commissioner, informing him that by the end of December 2021, CIDCO will completely hand over the physical infrastructure and services in the Panvel civic jurisdiction to the Panvel Municipal Corporation.

CIDCO claims that all administrative formalities for the handover process have been completed.

Cisco's chief engineer Dr KM Godbole wrote to Panvel civic chief Ganesh Deshmukh on December 13th, requesting that PCMC take over the charge by December 20, 2021, citing the need to avoid double taxation for residents in the PCMC area.

When contacted, Panvel municipal commissioner, however, said, The civic body of PCMC has the authority to levy property taxes, whereas CIDCO has been accepting Service Charges from residents in the PCMC area. As a result, PCMC does not impose double taxation.

In a meeting held on December 9 at the Vasudev Balwant Phadke auditorium in Panvel, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar directed CIDCO to immediately transfer the services and facilities of the areas under Panvel Municipal Corporation to the civic body to provide necessary assistance for the PCMC area's development.

The Maharashtra government formed and controls the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), an Indian city planning agency and the richest government authority in India. India's first smart city project was also launched by CIDCO.
