Govt allocates over 86-hectare land in Aurangabad under PMAY

Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel claims that less than 1% of the applicants have been allotted homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The state government allotted a little more than 86 hectares of government land for implementing the scheme at a minimum price of Re 1 per sq m.

The joint secretary of the state government, Ravikant Falle, said that the land located in Gat Number 227/1 of Teesgaon had been allotted to the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development (MHADA) for implementing the PMAY scheme. Aurangabad municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey also seeks land for implementing the scheme.

According to data, of 80,518 PMAY applicants in the district, only 355 have been allotted homes in the last five years.

PMAY scheme is an initiative and a flagship mission of the central government, being implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

Besides the issue, Jaleel had received several hoardings, criticising the administration allocated at different locations in the district.

The earlier allocated land for the scheme has been transferred for the upcoming safari park in the district.

The state government has said that the land is allotted for a specific purpose and should be utilised within three years of the allotment.
