Madhya Pradesh govt to provide pucca houses to poor by 2024

On Saturday, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh performed the Bhoomi-Poojan of the newly developed houses for the urban poor at Khandwa. He announced that the government's target is to provide pucca housing to all the poor by 2024.

He said that the development would be significant only when the poor families participate in it. Inclusive of the housing development, the poor will also get full benefits. It is an initiative of the MP government for the urban poor, who are lacking behind in development, should get basic facilities of food, clothing and housing.

In the program, 1,92,92 state beneficiaries got the benefit under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U). An amount of Rs 627 crore was transferred to 79,039 beneficiaries directly into their accounts.

Even for the construction of houses of 50,253 beneficiaries under the scheme, Bhoomi-Poojan was performed.

Singh said that free food grains were distributed in the Anna Utsav, and 1,29,292 urban beneficiaries would get the facility of pucca houses. Among them, a few are getting home entry, some land worship, and a few are getting the instalment in their account under the scheme.

He further said that those who do not have land would be given a lease and made the landowner, health security would be provided under the Ayushma Yojana, and ensure other benefits in the state. Further, 44,000 crores would be invested to develop the cities. Along with the legalisation of the illegal colonies, builders will be tightened, so no other illegal buildings are built in the cities.

On Saturday, CM also inaugurated a new cultural auditorium at Khandwa worth over Rs 19 crore.
