Maharashtra to start property e-registrations, introduce blockchain

In an effort to digitise the process, the Maharashtra state government has begun the electronic registration of properties that real estate developers plan to sell. In the near future, this will also require using blockchain technology. Maharashtra has now enabled e-registrations of properties, making it the first state to do so. The service will initially be made available for the electronic registration of first sale agreements. Transactions for resale will not be included. Additionally, the method will do away with the need for witnesses during registration.
