Chhattisgarh announces rollout of 240 e-buses across four cities

Chhattisgarh is set to introduce 240 e-buses across four cities as part of the Prime Minister e-bus Sewa scheme, announced a government official on 15 March, Friday.

According to the official, the allocation includes 100 medium-sized e-buses for the state capital, Raipur, 50 for the twin cities of Bhilai-Durg, 50 for Bilaspur (comprising 30 medium-sized and 20 mini e-buses), and 40 for Korba (including 20 medium-sized and 20 mini e-buses). This decision was made during a recent meeting of the central committee and steering committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs based on population statistics.

The Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, expressed optimism that introducing e-buses will transform state urban transportation while contributing to environmental preservation. The 'PM e-bus Sewa' scheme, inaugurated in August 2023, aims to promote the adoption of electric buses across the country.
