CM Saini Sets Three-Month Target For Gurugram Global City

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed officers to prepare a special action plan to complete basic infrastructure, including electricity and water supply, in the Global City in Gurugram within three months. He chaired the fourth review meeting of the State Pragati Portal, a web-based monitoring dashboard launched in January 2022 to track infrastructure projects costing over Rs 750 mn, as part of a wider push to accelerate delivery of large projects across the state.

The Global City is being developed over 1,000 acres for Rs 10 bn and has recorded 80 per cent physical progress, with remaining work slated for completion by December this year. The chief minister noted that once completed the development will supply modern basic infrastructure and expand employment opportunities for youth. The project is conceived as a mixed land-use township and a smart, well planned urban centre.

The planned centre will include education and healthcare institutions, malls, theatres, hotels, community centres and marriage palaces, and a dedicated water treatment plant and green lake are planned. Work will connect the site to the Dwarka Expressway to improve connectivity, and the Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited is the nodal agency. Officials reported completion of electricity, irrigation, roads, external rail siding and an internal rail yard at the Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub at Nangal Chaudhary.

An internal in-motion weighbridge at the logistics hub is expected to be installed within six months. Extensive infrastructure is under way at the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster in Hisar, which will host a Skill Development Centre, convention and exhibition facilities, a logistics park and a multi-speciality hospital. Water supply for the airport and a 220-kV power substation are being developed and a boundary wall is being erected around 1,578 acres in the first phase. The state is advancing Swadesh Scheme two to develop Yadavindra Gardens with a 100-room hotel and to expand the Pinjore airstrip, while adventure parks at Tikkar Tal and Thapli will be further developed.
