MoD, BDL Sign Rs 20.95 bn Deal for INVAR Anti-Tank Missiles

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics (BDL) for the procurement of INVAR Anti-tank Missiles worth Rs 20.95 billion under the ‘Buy (Indian)’ category. The agreement was inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh at South Block, New Delhi.

The INVAR missile system will significantly enhance the lethality and firepower of the Indian Army’s T-90 tanks, which form the backbone of its Armoured Regiments. The laser-guided missile offers a very high hit probability, strengthening the Army’s capability in mechanised warfare and providing a decisive edge in combat scenarios.

This procurement highlights the Government’s continued focus on strengthening domestic defence production and reducing dependence on imports. It leverages the technical expertise of Defence Public Sector Undertakings and promotes the development of advanced, home-grown defence systems in line with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
