Schwing Stetter India Backs New Indo-German Skill Development Push

Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt Ltd, one of the country’s leading concreting equipment manufacturers, reinforced its commitment to industrial skilling and Indo-German collaboration at the 59th Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) Annual Regional Meet in Chennai. The event marked a major step forward in bilateral cooperation, with new MoUs focused on skill development, MSME empowerment and industrial capability enhancement. A key milestone was the signing of an MoU between the Gedee Technical Training Institute (GTTI), the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) and a Section 8 Company formed by shareholders from IGCC and the German Business Group, Chennai. The partnership aims to set up a dedicated Skill Development Centre at MEPZ, Tambaram, delivering advanced technical training aligned with globally benchmarked German industrial standards. Schwing Stetter India is among the prominent industry supporters, advocating the creation of high-quality technical talent for the manufacturing and engineering sectors. The ceremony was attended by senior dignitaries, including VG Sakthikumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India, who reiterated the company’s long-standing commitment to vocational development and its role in strengthening Tamil Nadu’s industrial ecosystem. Sakthikumar highlighted the company’s wider skill initiatives across states including Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Assam, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, where over 1,300 candidates have already been enrolled. He noted that Schwing Stetter’s training programmes focus on practical, industry-ready skill development, supported by its established training infrastructure and Centre of Excellence at the Global Manufacturing Hub in Cheyyar. The upcoming Skill Development Centre at MEPZ will initially train candidates in CNC machining and digital manufacturing tools to prepare them for shop-floor roles. Later phases will introduce advanced specialisations aligned with international certification frameworks, catering to the increasing demand for high-precision engineering talent across construction, concrete equipment, automotive and heavy engineering industries. The event also included the formal exchange of a Letter of Intent between IGCC and the Andhra Pradesh MSME Development Corporation to support MSME skill development and promote German-standard training programmes across the state.
