Shah to inaugurate 'Strengthening PACS through FPOs' conclave in Delhi

The conclave is aimed at discussing ways to strengthen Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) through Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). It was announced that 1100 new FPOs will be formed in the Cooperative Sector, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’ and with the efforts of Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah.

Financial assistance of Rs 33 lakh is provided to each FPO under the FPOs Scheme, and Cluster Based Business Organisations (CBBOs) receive Rs 25 lakh per FPO for promoting and handholding the FPOs.

FPOs play a crucial role in making farming sustainable and improving the livelihoods and overall quality of life for those dependent on agriculture.

They facilitate better prices for small and marginal farmers/producers, reduce transportation costs, and enhance overall productivity.

The mega conclave "Strengthening PACS through FPOs" will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah in New Delhi on July 14, 2023. The event will bring together experts from the sector and members of FPOs nationwide. The conclave is organized by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Cooperation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has allocated additional blocks to the NCDC to form and promote 1100 FPOs in the Cooperative Sector, as part of an initiative to strengthen PACS and support small and marginal farmers in the cooperative sector.

The long-standing prohibition had limited ONGC’s ability to fill vacancies in its technical and administrative departments, often leading to project delays and higher dependence on outsourcing. With the court’s directive, the public sector enterprise can now proceed with temporary recruitments whil..
