Suzuki Motor, Maruti Suzuki to Establish Osamu Suzuki Centre in India

Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti Suzuki India Limited will establish the Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) in India to honour the late Osamu Suzuki. The announcement was made during a remembrance event at Yashobhoomi, Delhi, on 23 April 2025.

The OSCOE will be located in Gujarat and Haryana, aiming to promote Japanese manufacturing concepts that contributed to the success of Maruti Suzuki. The centre will focus on raising manufacturing standards among component manufacturers, building globally competitive supply chains, and developing collaborative programmes with academia to disseminate Japanese manufacturing principles.

The initiatives will include formal education, seminars, and discussions. The centre’s efforts are set to extend beyond the automotive sector into broader manufacturing domains.

Osamu Suzuki, born on 30 January 1930, played a pivotal role in making car ownership accessible to the masses and establishing India as a major car-producing nation. A graduate of Chuo University’s Faculty of Law, he joined Suzuki Motor Corporation in 1958 and later led it to global prominence.

Through OSCOE, Suzuki Motor and Maruti Suzuki aim to continue his legacy by fostering competitive, inclusive, and sustainable manufacturing growth across India.
