Uttar Pradesh Unveils Japanese City At YEIDA In Investment Push

The Government of Uttar Pradesh hosted the U.P.-Japan Investment Meet 2026 at Taj Palace, New Delhi, bringing together more than 200 Japanese chief executives and senior industry representatives to strengthen economic and technological cooperation. Senior central and state ministers attended, emphasising investment and industrial partnerships. The meet showcased Uttar Pradesh's recent reforms and infrastructure that support manufacturing and exports.

The Chief Minister described improvements in law and order, rapid industrialisation and investor-friendly policies, and invited Japanese companies to partner in the state's growth. He announced a dedicated Japanese City of approximately 500 acres in Sector-5A of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to provide integrated industrial, commercial and residential facilities. The proposal was framed as a platform for Japanese firms and residents to establish a long-term presence in the state.

A virtual ground breaking ceremony marked Escorts Kubota Limited's manufacturing facility in Sector-10, YEIDA, with 154 acres allotted for the project. The investment is approximately Rs 20.29 bn and the facility will manufacture 60,000 tractors annually alongside other components. The project is expected to generate around 4,000 employment opportunities and to strengthen the state's engineering and agricultural machinery base.

Spark Minda Group held virtual ground breaking ceremonies for projects in Sectors 10 and 24 of YEIDA, with a combined investment of approximately Rs 11.66 bn. The facilities are expected to manufacture nearly two million (mn) units annually, including electronic switches, sensors and USB chargers, and to create around 6,440 jobs. Officials indicated the investment will bolster Uttar Pradesh's automotive and electronics manufacturing clusters.

The Chief Minister highlighted green hydrogen, solar energy, electronics, medical devices, automotive manufacturing, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing as priority sectors for India-Japan collaboration. The event was attended by senior YEIDA officials and other government representatives, and was presented as a milestone in deepening ties and reinforcing Uttar Pradesh as a preferred destination for global manufacturing investment.
