Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonwal told the media that the government has plans to fulfill 60 per cent of power demand at major ports through solar and wind energy. Presently, renewable energy meets less than 10 per cent of the power demand at the ports. The stated 50 per cent of port equipment would be electrified by 2030. All ports would provide shore power to visiting ships in a three-phased manner by 2030.
