Bridgestone announces sustainability business framework

Bridgestone Corporation has announced a “Sustainability Business Framework” aimed at guiding their initiatives for supporting safe and secure mobility and contributing to a carbon-neutral society. The company stated that achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and reducing its CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 from the 2011 level are the primary goals of this environmental framework.

Newer targets for 2012, long-term environmental framework were laid down in 2020 with the introduction of a new “Milestone 2030” set of medium-term environmental goals. As part of the initiative, the company aims to decouple business growth from adverse environmental impacts and increase resource consumption.

Earlier, Bridgestone says, it had worked towards promoting reuse of resources in its solutions businesses, as well as new methods of reusing and recycling products into usable raw materials. Further defining their vision, Bridgestone aims to provide social value and customer value as a sustainable solutions company by 2050 and work towards realising its mid-long term business strategy thereby accomplishing its goals of a carbon-neutral state.
