Ambala Cantonment Domestic Airport To Be Inaugurated Soon

Haryana's minister for civil aviation has said the Ambala Cantonment domestic airport will be inaugurated soon, marking a step in the state's efforts to expand air connectivity. The minister stated that formalities for opening the airport have been completed and that officials were coordinating with federal aviation agencies to finalise necessary clearances before commencing operations.

The airport, located in Ambala Cantonment in northern Haryana, was developed to offer scheduled domestic services and to strengthen links between regional centres. The minister indicated that terminal facilities and airside infrastructure have been readied to handle passenger movements and that ground services had been arranged in consultation with the airport operator. He said staff training and emergency response arrangements had been conducted to ensure operational readiness.

The minister said the project forms part of a broader push to enhance transport infrastructure across the state and to attract investment to surrounding districts. He suggested that improved connectivity would help businesses, ease travel for residents and support the growth of tourism and trade in the region. He noted that the improved links would support small and medium enterprises and ease movement of goods for local producers.

Officials will proceed with the final regulatory checks and co-ordinate with airline partners to confirm service schedules and routes. The minister underlined the importance of seamless last?mile links and local transport integration so that communities around Ambala Cantonment can benefit from newly available air services. The minister also highlighted arrangements for passenger amenities and digital ticketing to streamline journeys.

The state government will monitor initial operations closely and collect feedback to refine service delivery and passenger experience. The minister said the inauguration would pave the way for enhanced mobility in northern Haryana and contribute to longer term economic opportunities without specifying an exact date for the opening. Authorities will assess service performance and passenger feedback in the weeks following the opening to guide any adjustments.
