Dubai International Airport Reigns as the Busiest Global Hub in 2024

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has retained its title as the world's busiest international airport, handling a remarkable 92.3 million passengers in 2024, surpassing major global competitors such as Heathrow, Incheon, Changi, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Paris, and Frankfurt. This achievement marks a 7% increase in scheduled seats from 2023, reinforcing Dubai's strategic position as a central hub connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa. While Dubai maintained its lead, other airports also experienced significant growth. Heathrow reached an all-time high of 83.9 million passengers, and Incheon soared to third place after a 24% increase in airline seat capacity. Istanbul, with a 20% rise in capacity since 2019, emerged as the fastest-growing airport. Notably, Changi Airport in Singapore came close to its pre-pandemic numbers, serving 67.7 million passengers, while Amsterdam Schiphol recorded steady growth, handling 66.8 million travellers. Paris Charles de Gaulle and Frankfurt airports also saw healthy recovery, with CDG serving over 70 million passengers. The rankings highlight a strong global aviation rebound, driven by surging demand for international travel. As airports expand their capacities and introduce new routes, the competition for the top spot is set to intensify in 2025. (travelandtourworld)
