Mumbai's T1 to Partially Close for Redevelopment in Q3FY26

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) Terminal 1 is set to undergo redevelopment starting Q3FY26, with partial closure expected to last nearly three years. The project aims to increase the terminal's capacity by 33%, enabling it to handle 20 million passengers annually.

The redevelopment is anticipated to impact major airlines, including IndiGo and Air India, which currently operate from Terminal 1. Both airlines are in discussions to find solutions to minimise disruptions during the construction period.

Meanwhile, Terminal 1 of CSMIA and Terminal 2 of the Navi Mumbai Airport are expected to become operational in 2029, with their openings scheduled just months apart.
